Please remember to pray for your spiritually adopted child and mother! Prayer commitment cards can be found at the church entrances. |
In order to promote the Gospel of Life, Venerable Fulton J Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child Do this by offering a daily prayer that the
The commitment is easy:
Take a pledge/prayer card located at the doors of our churches and offer the prayer daily beginning on the date of your own choosing for nine months. Many who have made this pledge have found that naming the child helps them to be more focused and faithful in prayer.
Catholic dogma, along with the Bible, agree that taking the life of a child in the womb is evil. God gives life, and only God can take it. And it is a human life even in the womb:
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you..." [Jeremiah 1:5]
"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb." [Psalm 139:13]
"When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit...[saying] 'As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.'" [Luke 1:41, 44 NIV]
Since we know God's will in this, we must pray constantly that all laws that support, promote, and enable abortion be overturned. And lest we get frustrated or begin to lose hope, remember:
"With God, all things are possible." [Mark 10:27]
"I can do all things in him who strengthens me." [Philippians 4:13]
