Kevin O'Boyle

Deacon Kevin was originally from West Orange, NJ, but went through most of grade school at St Mary’s Academy in Lakewood while his family lived in Jackson. They moved when Kevin was in 7 ^th Grade back to West Orange where he completed Grade and High School at Our Lady of the Valley Grade and High School in Orange.

Deacon Kevin attended Seton Hall University, earning a BA in Psychology (including a brief tour in Divinity School there), and a couple of years after graduation, in 1980 married Mary, our current Preschool Director. He continued studies at Seton Hall, earning an MBA and a JD. He is a licensed attorney in NJ and when not working at OLS-SA, works for a major insurance company drafting insurance documents.

In 1999, Deacon Kevin entered the Diocese of Trenton Diaconate Program and was ordained a Deacon by Bishop Smith on May 10, 2003. After ordination, he returned to part time study at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology at Seton Hall and earned and Master of Divinity in 2009 and a Master of Arts in Christian Ethics in 2013. He also earned a Certificate in Youth Ministry during his studies.

Active in scouting since his own youth, Deacon Kevin, an Eagle Scout, has been Chartered Organization Representative for Boy Scouting in the parish for over 20 years, going back prior to our merger. He is also chair of our Parish Finance Committee, and works with the Liturgy Committee, Marriage Group, and Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, teaches in our RCIA program, and is a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, in addition to his normal diaconate duties.

Deacon Kevin and Mary have lived in the parish since 1990, and have 4 sons, Daniel, Matthew, James, and Peter, all graduates of OLS School.
