This year's Lenten Work of Charity is to help rebuild the residence for the priests and seminarians of the Institute Voluntas Dei, which was destroyed by widespread looting. All poor box donations during Lent will be dedicated to the Work of Love.

Our Lenten Work of Love realized a total of $11,000 for the building of the new Mary Immaculate School in Haiti. Thanks to all who generously contributed to this appeal—extraordinary results in a time of pandemic!

In addition to the troubles caused by the pandemic, the area served by the Religious Teachers Filippini in Ethiopia is being swarmed by thousands of locusts eating their crops! They are in desperate need of the well and cisterns that our gift will provide. Since we cannot make our donations at the church doors as usual, please do not forget our Lenten offering--Donations may be mailed to the Parish Office. We are pleased to announce that this year’s Lenten Work of Love to benefit Mary Immaculate School in Les Gonaives, Haiti, realized $15,928. Many thanks to all those who generously contributed to this project to provide decent facilities for the students of that school. Our parish will be sending to the pastor, Fr. Mehu Charles Joseph, a parish check for $16,000.

Those words came from Fr Eugene Savarimuthu, whose ministry in India was the focus of our Lenten Work of Charity. In a recent letter to Msgr Gervasio, Fr. Gene extended his love and gratitude for the parish community’s continued support, both prayerfully and financially, for the “poorest of the poor.”
