Congress is trying to force Americans to pay for abortion with their taxes by removing the Hyde Amendment from appropriations bills. Historically, the Hyde Amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding abortions, with bi-partisan support, for many years. Make your voice heard. Our statue of St. Anthony, co-patron of our parish, has seen its day, and is now looking quite worn and scruffy. In June of this year, the Vatican released the news that Pope Francis instituted a Church-wide celebration of a World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly. Beginning this year, the celebration will be held on the fourth Sunday of July, close to the liturgical memorial of Sts. Joachim & Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.

The Anointing of the Sick is intended to strengthen those who are ill, not just the dying. If you or someone you know is seriously ill, don't wait until the last minute to call the priest for this sacrament!

Whether you registered as a parishioner seven years ago or seven times seven years ago, things change. Please keep us up to date if your household grows or shrinks, if someone moves into a skilled nursing or assisted living facility, or if they are hospitalized! In response to demand, our parish will begin a trial of the 8:00 AM Sunday Mass, from August 8 through October 24. We have been monitoring Mass attendance over the past few weeks and have determined that scheduling an 8:00 am Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows merits a trial.
