Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no individual blessing of throats on the Feast of St. Blaise. However, in addition to the general blessing imparted at this weekend’s Masses (1/31), the general blessing will also be given at the 9 AM Mass on Wednesday, February 3, the Feast of St. Blaise.

As members of our diocesan family, we are called upon to love and serve all of our brothers and sisters – both within our Catholic community and beyond. Your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal allows our diocese to continue to serve as a resource to the parishes and other organizations in their efforts to provide service, evangelization, and outreach.

This year, the penitential season of Lent begins on February 17. Please bring in all old palms to be burned and used for ashes on Ash Wednesday. Beginning next week (February 6/7), there will be containers at all the exit doors on the weekends to hold the palms.

In order to ensure that all donations are reflected, contribution statements will not be available until the end of January. Thanks to all who have been so generous in contributing to the Christmas collection, the most important appeal of the year. If you have not yet made a gift, it would be welcomed, especially this COVID year! A total will be published at the end of this month and a report will be made on the disbursement of the funds.

Due a new early deadline set by the printer, there will be an additional week’s delay in reporting sacrificial offerings.

We are delighted to announce the awarding of five one-thousand-dollar tuition scholarships to five families of our school. These were made through the great generosity of Mr. Frank Martucci in loving memory of his mother, Jennie Kelly. Click the article title for more information.

We are pleased to announce that parish grants of various amounts totaling $3,100 were awarded to six families of our school as tuition assistance. This help is made possible through your contributions to our parish tuition assistance fund throughout the year. Thanks to all those who made gifts this past year. It is a great help to families who wish to provide a Catholic education to their children.

As the new year begins, there are many issues in society that challenge our Catholic moral and social teachings. Opposition to abortion remains our ‘pre-eminent priority. During the month of January when we acknowledge the 48th anniversary of the fateful Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision, I invite the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Diocese of Trenton to join in a common prayerful response to end abortion. Click the article title for some suggestions.

March for Life’s Annual Rose Dinner Gala—a pro-life event benefiting the March for Life Education and Defense Fund—is going virtual! The event will take place online at 7 pm on Friday, January 29. The program will feature a variety of pro-life voices and organizations working to build a culture of life. Among them will be Tim Tebow,a two-time national champion, first-round NFL draft pick, and Heisman Trophy winner; Fr, Mike Schmitz, and Carl Anderson.
