Young and old alike are invited to serve in one of the many aspects of our parish’s liturgical life.
Liturgy Committee members work directly with Monsignor to prepare special liturgies and opportunities for the faithful to develop and deepen their relationship with God. Some of these include coordinating parish missions, Mass with the Anointing of the Sick, and Days of Recollection as well as offering reflection booklets for Advent and Lent, and more.
Arts & Environment Committee members work to enhance the Church environment, not only to honor the sacredness of God’s House, but also to reflect the beauty of the various liturgical seasons. (You don't have to be artistic to help with this work, just willing!)
Ushers welcome the faithful as they enter church, assist those in need, gather the offerings of the congregation, and carry them to the altar at the offertory of the Mass. Ushers also guide the faithful as they approach the altar to receive holy communion.
Altar Servers, generally the youth of the parish, assist the deacons and priests at Mass and other services.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist serve by assisting the priest in distributing the Body and Blood of Our Lord at Mass. Some EMs offer their time to take the Holy Eucharist to the sick at home or in a hospital or nursing facility.
Lectors (Readers) have the distinct honor of proclaiming the Word of God to the congregation at Mass. They also welcome the assembly and introduce the celebration and mass intentions.
Sacristans work behind the scenes to prepare the vessels and all those things necessary for the celebration of Mass or other services.
Altar Linen Volunteers carefully launder and iron the various linens used at Mass. This is also a ministry carried out “behind the scenes” at home.
In 1 Peter 4:10 it is written, “Each one should use whatever he has received to serve others.” Please carefully consider Christ’s call and receive the joy of serving.
