The parish office has received a few calls inquiring if and when the 8:00 am Sunday Mass will return. Placing a Mass on a fixed schedule should be matched by a level of attendance that should justify it. Until now, we have been hesitant to add any Mass since our “post-COVID” participation, while much improved, is not what it was prior to the pandemic. Most parishioners have their favored Mass time of course, but a parish cannot meet every person’s preference.
We have been monitoring Mass attendance over the past few weeks and have determined that scheduling an 8:00 am Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows merits a trial. It will be celebrated August 8 through October 24. Keeping it depends upon adequate attendance, i.e. about 100 persons or more. Prior to the pandemic the average attendance at the 8:00 am Mass was 240 persons. I trust this is welcome news to those prefer an earlier Mass time. Let’s see how this trial goes! I hope our “early birds” respond accordingly.
