St. Gregory the Great Parish is hosting an informative presentation “How Safe Is Our Religious Freedom Today?” by Matthew Franck, Ph.D., Associate Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, on Tuesday, January 15, at 7:30 pm in the St. Gregory the Great Academy Cafeteria, 4680 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
In his presentation, Dr. Franck will discuss how the various developments on the American political and social scene have jeopardized our country’s commitment to the full protection of religious freedom promised by our Constitution. The growth of government power over the decisions we make in fields like employment and healthcare, the progress of the “LGBT” movement in changing the shape of our laws, and a growing secular skepticism about the value of religion itself, all threaten to downgrade our commitment to preserving religious freedom. On the other hand, recent Supreme Court decisions have been very positive for religious liberty. Dr. Franck will address the present outlook and what may be on the horizon for religious freedom.
A “Free Will” collection will be taken to support the Adult Faith Program.
