Having attained his 75th year (yes he is 75!), Deacon James Challender submitted his letter of retirement to the Most Reverend Bishop in accord with diocesan policy. Deacon Jim has served our parish and the wider community of the diocese for the past 13 years! We are pleased that Deacon Jim will retain his facullties and generously continue to minister in the parish and diocese, as pastoral needs require, respecting always his "retired" status.
On behalf of our parish, I extend to Deacon Jim our prayerful best wishes and our thanks for his diaconal ministry. I hasten to add our thanks to his dear wife, Nancy, for her own generous sharing in Deacon Jim's ministry over these many years.
Our parish will have an opportunity to greet and thank Deacon Jim on his retirement. He will assist at the 11:00 Mass on Sunday, October 8. Refreshments will follow in the church hall. Join us!
