Please remember in your prayers and Masses the soul of the Most Reverend Edward U. Kmiec who died on Saturday, July 11, the Memorial of St. Benedict. A native of St. Hedwig’s Parish, Trenton, Bishop Kmiec was ordained a priest of our diocese in 1961. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Trenton to Bishop John C. Reiss in 1982. Ten years later, Pope John Paul II named him Bishop of Nashville where he served until his appointment as Bishop of Buffalo in 2004. He retired in 2012. His episcopal motto, “Charity and Service,” characterized his long and fruitful ministry.
