Prayer for Suffering Orlando and Our Nation

Gracious Father,

Our nation grieves as we confront the murderous rampage in Orlando. We are shocked by the tragic loss of life and the injuries to so many innocent citizens. Human life is precious to you—for you created every person in your image.

We mourn with the families and friends whose lives have been forever changed through such wanton violence and we join their cry, "How long, O Lord?"

We pray for the victims and their families. May yuo bring to the glory of heaven those who have died. Grant your light and strength to their families and friends in this time of loss. Fill them with a comfort that can only come from your Son, Jesus.

We pray for justice for those who take the path of hatred and violence in the world. Open their eyes to the truth, forgiveness, and new life.

We pray for all those who suffer oppression and discrimination. Guard their lives and guide their steps to a love and security that the world can never take away.

We pray for all citizens. May we stand united against hatred and terror, and work together for the protection and preservation of all human life.

Come Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace. Increase in every heart your reign of love!
