I am pleased to provide this pastoral and financial report for FYE June 30, 2021. As you review this report, please keep in mind the impact that the pandemic has had on nearly every area of our parish life. I am truly grateful for the support provided by so many during this disconcerting time. I hasten to add my thanks to everyone involved in our school and religious education program. They have admirably managed to continue the mission of education and spiritual formation amid the protocols and restrictions necessary to safeguard our health. The parish staff, too, deserves praise foor keeping the office "up and running." Happily, we are seeing many parish groups returning to their regular in-person meetings.
I would also like to highlight the following aspects of this year's report:
Despite the impact of the pandemic, the parish remains debt-free, satisfying all financial obligations to the Diocese and its vendors.
Our financial "equilibrium" was maintained by the welcome receipt on March 31, 2021, of a second federal government's PPE loan of $302,962 for school and parish salaries and benefits. ($200,000 was allocated to the school; $102,962 allocated to the parish). Since the funds were used for these purposes, the parish does not have to repay the loan.
In September 2020, Newgrange School, a tentant on St. Anthony Campus, made their long anticipated move to a new location. As a result, we suffered the loss of rental income for a number of months. Happily, PACE Charter School, a tenant on our campus, decided to lease the vacated buildings. After a period of negotiation and necessary repairs, a lease was signed on July 22, 2021. This rental income should not be underestimated. It accounts for 20.3% of our total revenue!
The Diocese continues to subsidize our Haitian Ministry as well as 1/2 of the pastor's salary and benefits, owing to his additional role as Diocesan Vicar General. This accounts for another 2.5% of total revenue.
Our school enrollment declined by 15 students in the 2020-21 scholastic year. The parish provided to the school a subsidy of $159,548. This unusual decrease in parish subsidy from previous years is due to the school's $200,000 share of the federal PPE loan.
Thank you for your generosity to the parish by the sharing of your time, talent, and treasure. May our great patrons, our Blessed Mother Mary and St. Anthony of Padua, ever intercede for you.
