January has gone by in the blink of an eye! Our students are busy with many different learning activities, from the littlest learners to our 8
th graders. Every event is an opportunity to grow, learn, and create new memories, and we are making the most of them! Kindergarten taught me a fun fact this week—who knew that a real igloo can be built in 30 minutes?? Not only did they share that information with me, they then built their own igloos in 30 minutes, and I was lucky enough to be part of the “glue” team. I truly enjoyed watching their attention to detail, and I was so impressed with their patience as they made their creations. Their handiwork is displayed below—and don’t tell their parents, but we got to eat the leftover marshmallows!
Second grade has been busy reading biographies about some very famous people, and as you can see from the picture, they created cutouts of those people. How wonderful to watch them present facts about important contributors to our society, such as Rosa Parks, Walt Disney, and George Lucas. Their cutouts are the hit of the hallway!
The middle school ended the week with a “neon–themed” dance. On Friday night the 6
th through 8
th grades dressed in neon colors and enjoyed a night in the gymnasium listening to music from a DJ, and dancing to some well-known songs like Cotton-Eyed Joe. Thank you to the parents who set up and provided the snacks, and to the middle school teaching team for chaperoning the kids. The teachers had some of their own fun and were not shy about showing their “dance moves” to the students. It was an enjoyable night for all!
Today begins Catholic School’s Week, a week that celebrates Catholic education in the United States. The week is filled with activities and special events that focus on the value a Catholic education provides to our young people, and highlights their contributions to the Church and local communities. Please browse the schedule of activities provided on this page, and see how our Catholic identity is tightly woven throughout the week. We begin and end the week with Mass; we will complete a service project for the Salvation Army; there is an opportunity to help others with a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation; and several activities to celebrate family life. We are looking forward to a fun-filled, action packed week celebrating who we are.
I am so blessed to be a part of this community, and Catholic School’s Week is one more reason to celebrate. Stop by today and let our Student Ambassadors show you all the wonderful ways our children are learning, serving, leading and succeeding.
