The Celebration of Mass with the Annointing of the Sick
7:00 PM Wedensday, October 18 Our Lady of Sorrows Church
By the sacred annointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests, the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. (CCC 1499)
Who may receive this sacrament?
Those awaiting surgery of a serious nature
The elderly who are notably weakened, even if not seriously ill
Sick children may be strengthened through this annointing.
Our parish invites all those Catholics who may be ill to this sacred encounter, that they might know that Christ, who often visited and healed the sick, loves them in their illness. If you would like to know more about this sacrament—where it comes from, what it does, and when a person may be anointed, see the page on the sacrament of
Anointing of the Sick. If you or a loved one is too sick to come to the Mass, you can always call on one of our priests to come and bring the Sacrament to you where you live. Instructions of preparing for such a visit can be found on the page,
Preparing for a Sick Call.
