It sure is great to attend OLS! We are so happy to be such an active part of today's liturgy. The OLS Select Choir meets with Mr. Kemmey, our music teacher, whenever they can find the time in their busy school days. Yes, they may gather early in the morning before class or give part of their recess times.
Student Government also takes a very active role at OLS. The student leaders that you see today, under the guidance of Mrs. Touhy, our Middle School faculty member, caucus at lunch in an effort to plan school-based activities for their classmates. If you have never attended Reindeer Games at Christmas, you are in for a real treat. This is just one of their many activities. Monthly, the Student Government plan for "Dress Down Days" or other service-based projects that help support our greater parish and the world at large.
Today, you see these young leaders in uniform. They love to share their excitement about OLS. Ask them; they will be happy to share. Many of them are also "Student Ambassadors." They proudly tour families through our school. Prospective families are so impressed with their knowledge, presentation skills and enthusiasm. (Actually, I often learn something new just following their tours!)
An OLS student said, "They won't give us off for snow. Our teachers love us too much. They would miss us!"
Well, we do love each of them, but sometimes we need to take a bad weather day, but hopefully, not this week. We have just too much planned.
On Monday, we have invited Incarnation/St. James School to join us for an Ice Skating Party at the Mercer County Rink. What better way to celebrate Catholic schools than to party with our of our sister schools!
On Thursday, we have invited all of our "Special People" to visit us at school's opening. Of course, guests need to have refreshments, and we have planned for breakfast treats and relaxation! After some relaxing time with the students and their guests, we head into the gym. We have one great show planned and all of our special guests are invited.
We have a few other tricks up our sleeves for this week. How about a Silly Sock Hop Day? Yes, we will have the silly socks, but we will also have some dance instructors and hallway celebrations! The rest of our events may have to remain a secret until the week unfolds. It is very special to be a student at OLS! Find out why.
