I would like to be the voice of the desperate people in Haiti who were severely hit by Hurricane Matthew in early October. As we know, the people in Haiti are facing too many struggles in their lives one year after another. The people survived the devastating earthquake, hurricane Matthew, and the unstable political situation. Despite all of these problems, the people still have strong faith. I am very amazed by their faith and see how they endure everything with joy and hope in Our Lord. As St. Paul says: " The sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us." (Romans 8:18)
Reaching out today to the people in Haiti can make a difference in the lives of so many dying children. You can restore their lives and bring to them happiness. After Hurricane Matthew ravaged the Island of Haiti, the situation is dreadful and many lives are still at risk. The Category 4 storm caused thousands of deaths. Matthew also left more than 800,000 people in urgent need of food, clean water and housing. Another factor in the situation is cholera, which is a great threat. A recent survey indicates that so far more than 3400 suspected cases have been reported since the storm.
In this regards, the Parish requests your help for Haiti. The weekend of November 19-20 a second collection will be taken to support many lives in Haiti after Hurricane Matthew. Donations can be made to the
Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows - St. Anthony and the parish will process it to the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
Thanks for your continuing generosity and support.
