The OLS-SA Holy Name Society is a parish organization devoted to serving the spiritual, social, and faithful needs of the men of our parish, which it has been doing for the past 80 years. We are part of a National Federation that professes several objectives, including: honoring the Holy Name of Jesus; imitating him in our thoughts, words, and actions; performing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy; and combating pornography. Our Society has also expanded into a religious, inspirational, and motivational discussion group, using
Christopher News Notes as one guide to follow.
We hold meetings on the second Wednesday of each month from October to May here in the church library at OLS. Our annual dues are $15; additional donations are appreciated as they enable us to broaden our endeavors. We primarily support graduates from Our Lady of Sorrows School with $100 scholarships. This year we gave $500 to graduates. We also support the following charitable organizations: Morality in Media, Catholic Charities of Trenton, Mount Carmel Guild, Better Community Housing in Trenton, Right to Life, Adopt a Family, Divine Word Fathers, and the Christophers. There is more information, including the Holy Name Pledge, about the Holy Name Society on the parish website.
We provide transportation for those who cannot drive. If you need a ride or have any questions, please call the parish office (609-587-4372) and leave your name and phone number and we will get back to you.
We are asking all men to seriously consider supporting our organization both financially and also attending our meetings.
If enough men are interested who cannot attend a meeting during the day, we will consider changing our meeting time, so don't let the current meeting time stop you from enquiring! Look for our meeting notices in the bulletin.
