On Friday, April 29, our parish hosted an evening of recollection for married couples. It was an evening well-prepared and sponsored by our parish Marriage Ministry Team. Invited as speakers were Bill and Cheryl Wegner of Good News International, based in Howell, NJ. Many may remember Bill who conducted our Lenten Mission two years ago. In addition to the engaging presentation, the evening included prayer and refreshments. I have no doubt that those who did participate found the evening's activities both enjoyable and beneficial for their vocation.
The team and I did have one disappointment—we had hoped that many more couples would have participated. Only 13 couples participated—a disheartening response for a parish of our size. So often parishioners are very keen to suggest parish activities but when events are planned, we find little enthusiasm.
The goal or mission of the marriage ministry team is to provide opportunities for couples to enrich and strengthen their marriage. The team is certainly open to suggestions, striving to provide opportunities that will achieve this goal.
