When did this gospel story take place? We frequently get bits and pieces of the days of Jesus' life, but even if we read all four gospels one after another, if is hard to picture the chronological order in which these events took place and thus get a richer, fuller view of Jesus. Building on some previous scholarly works, one of the members of our diocese, Bob Dunne, has written and self-published
909 Days that Changed the World, which gives the reader a better understanding of those two and a half years (909 days) of Jesus' public ministry that started with his baptism in the Jordan River. After reading this book, you will be able to read and hear gospel passages and know the likely time, place, background, and circumstances surrounding the events and parables of Jesus' public life. Hopefully, and more importantly, Jesus Christ will become more alive, more human, as you walk along with him and see how his ministry unfolds day by day, week by week, month by month.
Bishop O'Connell says, "In a succession of short but accessible chapters, Bob succeeds in bringing the four Gospels together as they re-introduce us to the God-Man of two thousand years ago...so much so that my studies and reading and preaching of many years found still more about Him to inform my sermons and, more personally, to nourish my soul. If spiritual reading can still offer a 'wow factor' after all these years, Bob's writing does it with ease and conviction."
Reading the book could be a great Lenten resolution. It can be bought from his publisher Leonine Press, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon. You may also get an autographed copy directly from Bob ($16 with sales tax) by emailing him at
