We are the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows - St. Anthony, a Roman Catholic community; as one Eucharistic family, we are Christ-centered and Spirit-led. Children of God our Father, we are united by His love, and sustained by the intercession of Our Lady and St. Anthony. We give witness to our faith in action.
Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. Our parish life begins and continues in Christ, Our Lord and Savior. "Let us profess the truth in love and grow to the full maturity in Christ the head." (Ephesians 4:11)
We are guided by the Light of the Holy Spirit, embrace His gifts, and seek to transform them for God's glory. We strive through learing to grow in holiness and the perfection of Christian charity. "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35)
One Eucharistic Family
Our celebration of the Eucharistic Banquet is the source and summit of all we are. As we share in God's abundant grace through all the sacraments, we live as one family in Christ. "Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf." (1 Corinthians 10:16-17)
Witnessing to our Faith
As one community, we come together to touch the lives and faith of our sisters and brothers in need, through our extensive ministries and service to God's people, wherever we find them. We give witness to our faith in action. "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:26)
Core Value Prayers
Because we know that we are imperfect, but want to perfect the core values we treasure, we offer the following prayers for the growth of the core values of the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows - St. Anthony:
Make Us Christ Centered
Jesus, you are God, and yet you lowered yourself to take on human flesh in order to reconcile us with the Father. By becoming one of us, you give new meaning to our human experience. We ask for the courage to model our lives on your example, imitating the gentleness and peace with which you moved among us. Be with us in our efforts to recreate your love in our world. We ask this as a community gathered in faith, hope, and love. Amen.
Open Us to the Leading of the Spirit
O God, through the power of your Spirit you come to us and make your home within us. Help our community to hear your voice speaking from within, calling us to deeper union with you. Let us recognize the working of the Spirit among us, so as a community we may renew our hearts and transform our actions, proclaiming the word of God to the world. We ask this as a community gathered in faith, hope, and love. Amen.
Make Us One Eucharistic Family
God of life, you gave us the gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus, that we might have food to sustain us. May we who share in the one bread and drink of the one cup strive for unity of mind and heart in sharing God's abundant grace within the body of Christ. May all be welcomed at our Eucharistic Feast. We ask this as a community gathered in faith, hope, and love. Amen.
Help Us Witness to Our Faith
Christ be our light, you have called us to be members of your body. Illumine our minds that we may see you in others. We pray to be your hands and feet, your voice and your heart in our world. Help our community let your people know that You move among them, hearing their concerns and healing their sorrow. We pray this in the name of Jesus who came among us to show us the way. We ask this as a community gathered in faith, hope, and love. Amen.
