The
Altar Server ministry provides members of the parish with a true opportunity to function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Sunday Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year. You'll find more information about this ministry on the
Altar Servers page, along with a link to the
Altar Servers Application.
If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact Msgr. Gervasio at the parish office (587-4372 or
[email protected]). If you have questions about scheduling, contact Deacon Kevin O'Boyle
([email protected]).
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond. In the Church’s history, Lector (Reader) was considered one of the “minor orders,” that is to say, a step in preparation for the reception of Holy Orders. Today it is called a ministry and remains a step toward ordination to the diaconate and priesthood. For a listing of the duties of the lector, see the
Lectors page.
If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact Deacon Kevin O'Boyle,
[email protected] .
Musicians
The
Music Ministry provides music during weekend Masses, holy days, weddings, funerals and Reconciliation services. Parishioners are invited to share their musical talents with the rest of the congregation through this ministry.
If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact Michael Amantia, the Director of the Music Ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
These lay people are sometimes referred to as Eucharistic Ministers.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to get to church. They also may assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass. If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact Deacon Kevin O'Boyle,
[email protected] .
Ushers
These ministers are sometimes referred to as Greeters. Being a welcoming community is very important to us. Ushers are the first face of the parish. They greet those coming into our church, offer assistance to those in need, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other materials as needed. They also guide the faithful as they approach the altar to receive Holy Communion.
If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact the parish office, at 587-4372.
Sacristans
Sacristans assist, facilitate, and provide support and coordination for other liturgical ministries. In addition, they make the necessary preparations for liturgical activities.
If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact the parish office, at 587-4372.
Altar Linens
Volunteers help to keep the altar linens in good condition, and get the linens ready for the liturgies held in the churches.
If you would like to help with the altar linens, contact Susan Commini (for OLS) or Emily Herrera (for SA), at the Parish Office (587-4372).
Arts & Environment Volunteers
Volunteers help to decorate our churches, especially for the major feast days. If you would like to help create decorations as well as setting up the displays, contact Marianne Gryziewicz or Barbara Dohrenwend through the parish office at 587-4372 or send email to
[email protected].
The Liturgy Committee
The
Liturgy Committee helps in planning, coordinating, and suggesting liturgies, working under the direction of the pastor. Reporting to the Liturgy Committee are the heads of the Arts & Environment Volunteer decorationg groups for the Our Lady of Sorrows Church and St. Anthony Church.
