Parish reception of the Miracle Torch of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Saturday, November 9 5:00 pm Mass Our Lady of Sorrows Church
The Diocese of Trenton is continuing the tradition of honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and of the Unborn, with the pilgrimage of torches throughout our four counties. On October 26 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Vicar General of the Diocese Monsignor Thomas Gervasio blessed the parish torches—there are many named for the apparition at Guadalupe: Tilma, Apparition, Tepeyac, Rose, Miracle, Image, and Flower. These will be formally received at the participating parishes and placed in the church as a vivid reminder of Our Lady’s maternal presence and her call to prayer. (Last year, our parish received the Rose Torch; this year, we will receive the Miracle Torch.)
The torch will remain in the Alcove of Our Lady throughout the week. It serves as a reminder that Mary bore in her womb Jesus, the Light of the World. It is also a reminder of the upcoming feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Festive Procession that will take place in Trenton on Saturday, December 7
, concluding with Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary celebrated by Bishop O’Connell.
The procession sets out from Immaculate Conception Church at 8:30 am (coffee and traditional bread offered). Stops will be made at
St. Anthony’s Church and St. Joseph’s Church before arriving at the Cathedral. Shuttle buses will be going to and from the Cathedral from 7:00 am through 4:30 pm.
