Snow, snow go away! Well, it has slowed down just a bit, but we are still percolating at school! Hope that you saw our picture in Monday morning's Trentonian. News had spread quickly about the excitement brewing at Our Lady of Sorrows School for Catholic Schools Week.Just as our troupe of Russan Dancers kicked their way out the main doors, The Trentonian called, "We heard there is excitement everyday at OLS! Can we come over to take some pictures?" The photographer arrived on Friday afternoon just as our wonderful Student Council members were preparing hot chocolate for our Snuggle Up and Read event. (More about that later.)
The staff photographer posed our Student Council members with the beautiful Knights of Columbus rosary. This hand-made set was created with giant beads and spans over 30 feet. They were made in memory of the Bumbera family. The Trenton Knights of Columbus has proudly carried this rosary for years in the Columbus Day parade and decided to share them with our students this year.
The photographer was not able to stay for our Snuggle Up and Read event, but was it ever fun! Our Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Maureen Tuohy, made hot chocolate and marshmallows for the entire school. It was the perfect treat to enjoy as our students partnered across the grades. It was truly beautiful to see our middle school students enjoying the company of the lower school youngsters. They developed activities and projects that they felt lower grade students would enjoy. The activities ranged from read-alouds to checkers and puzzles. How wonderful to have our middle school students act as role models and mentors to our youngest students.
We are now in active registration for the upcoming school year. Take this opportunity for your children to enjoy the outstanding program that is offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. We graduate students that are active, eager learners who practice their Catholic faith each day. Our lower school enjoys the leadership and guidance of great role models. Give your children the gift of a safe, academically excellent Catholic education at OLS. Call 587-440 for a tour or to have your child enjoy a "Shadow Day."
